From April 1st, the trademark registration fee will be reduced to half, and the computer software copyright registration fee as well as protection fee for new plant varieties will be suspended!

Recently, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued a Notice on the relevant policy for the cleanup of a number of administrative fees (Finance [2017] No. 20), to reduce the registration fee for trademark applications, and suspend the computer software copyright registration fee as well as protection fee for new plant varieties.

According to the Notice, from April 1, 2017, a total of 41 administrative fees set by the central government will be cancelled or suspended, and the trademark registration fee will be reduced by 50%, from the current 600 yuan down to 300 yuan, which is a big step. At the same time, the computer software copyright registration fee and the protection fee for new plant varieties will be suspended, meaning that the official fee for them, 250 and 1,000 yuan separately, will stop charging.
