Highlights of Boao Forum for Asia: IP conference
On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Fabio Giacopello, Senior Partner at HFG Law & Intellectual Property, was invited to deliver a speech of Digital and Intellectual Property Trends in Europe on Innovation and Intellectual Property Protection Conference (IIPPC) of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA).
Fabio introduced the organization structure of intellectual property in different levels of Europe and compared the differences of procedure. Through detailed data and charts, Fabio analyzed the patent filing situation in Europe based on top technological fields and different origin countries.
The forum was held in Guangzhou from July 12 to 13. As a special session under the framework of the Conference of the International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum (ISTIF) of BFA, the IIPPC focuses on the establishment of the global intellectual property governance system to aid science, technology and innovation as well as the development of the knowledge economy under the theme of “Global System Building for Technological Innovation and Intellectual Property”.
Other speakers include Yan Xiaohong, President of Copyright Society of China, Lv Tingyan, President of Patent Protection Association of China, Chen Junlong, foreign academician of Academia Europaea, vice president of Chinese Association of Automation and professor of South China University of Technology, Qian Kun, global senior vice president of Qualcomm, and Matsumoto Kaname, minister of the Intellectual Property Department of Hong Kong Representative Office of Japan Trade Promotion Agency. The forum discussed the contribution of intellectual property to the transformation and development of digital economy. Protection and future trend were also highlighted.
Pursuing green, low-carbon, high-quality and sustainable development will gradually become a global consensus and the theme of world economic development. Through the plenary, three sessions and other special events, the participants of the IIPPC will explore how to follow the international trend of technological innovation, improve the global intellectual property system, strengthen intellectual property protection, accelerate the utilization of intellectual property, provide world-class resource matchmaking, exchange and cooperation for governments, enterprises, universities and research institutes, and support the quality development of the world economy with the intellectual property system.
